The "Mainstream Media" paints Andrew Carnegie as an immigrant who had arrived in the United States from Scotland in 1848 with absolutely nothing to his name. Then a few decades later, he was the richest man in the country.

Story after story attributes his success as an Industrial Icon to his independent initiative as well as his deep rooted determination that allowed him to climb from the lowest of societal classes to the highest class imaginable.

(that he'd only dreamed of when seeing "Lady Liberty" for the first time while passing through Ellis island as a young man)

What's potentially EVEN MORE IMPRESSIVE according to today's standards is that his big bank account and the influence that came with it put Carnegie in a position a little later in his life to become one of (if not) the most impactful Philanthropists the world has ever seen.

Who wouldn't want that level of impact, influence, and income, right?

But...

For someone with a legacy that's STILL IMPACTING LIVES over a century after his passing, Carnegie's story is a bit more nuanced than what can be seen on the surface.

You see...

Napoleon Hill was a journalist for a magazine and arrangements were made on his behalf for a 3-hour interview to inquire about what had made Carnegie so successful.

(but the meeting took an entirely different direction that Hill could NEVER have seen coming in his wildest dreams)

The millionaire mogul was so impressed by Hill's personality & persistence that his 3-hour interview turned into an invitation to stay at Carnegie's 64-room mansion for 3 days and 3 nights - and be entertained on the lap of luxury.

During this time...

Mr. Carnegie sold Mr. Hill on the idea of organizing THE WORLD'S FIRST book/ book series on the "Philosophy of Personal Achievement" based on his own lessons learned from accumulating his vast fortune of over $500 million dollars - along with lessons that 500 of his closest colleagues at the time used to build their fortunes.

Also as the story is told...

Napoleon Hill was then PERSONALLY introduced to Carnegie's inner circle and from those introductions to and interviews of 500 of the top business giants of his day...

He identified seventeen success principles common to all high achievers (now known as Hill's "17 Principles of Success/ Personal Achievement")

And...

Out of these 17 Principles, only one stood out as the single most important principle required for ALL success and shared by ALL the successful people that he interviewed.

Can you guess what that one principle was?

(HINT: "Shhh....it's masterminds!)

The next day after his dinner with Sharon...

I believe that our role as parents is to give our children the experiences necessary to help them develop a sense of WHAT'S POSSIBLE when purpose-driven people come together for a common cause.

Recently, Ann and I chose to take Abigail to Tony Robbins 60th Birthday Party for one reason and one reason alone.

So that Abigail could see first-hand what's possible when one individual is mission-driven and will do whatever it takes to help...

As Tony & Sage (his wife) shared from stage that evening...

It's a topic that not many people want to talk about because it addresses some of THE UGLIEST BEHAVIOR in the history of humankind.

Yet...

It touches Tony on an emotional level so his wife decided to bring together Tony's closest friends to do something that felt like the right thing to do at the time.

That evening, purpose-driven people took action together and chose to do something about a common cause that they believed in and made an IMMEDIATE IMPACT in the lives of women & children who desperately needed our help.

The sad reality is that although this sounds so simple on the surface, there's a big difference between " talking " about doing something and actually " doing " something. The Garland Family prides itself on admiring & associating with the people who are the DO'ERS in this world because life is too short to sit on the sidelines - and we hope you do too.

Yes...

This picture on your right shows Ann, Abigail, and I with smiles on our faces having a good time.

Yet...

We were there to be a part of helping Tony's MISSION turn into a MOVEMENT right before our own eyes.

He and his wife used their INFLUENCE to bring together people who collectively raised almost $20 million dollars that night.

(from just those in the room!)

Our participation that evening raised enough donations to help save 15,533 predominantly women and children from the modern equivalent to "slavery". We know this because the Founder of Operation Underground Railroad, Tim Ballard, was right there with us that evening and he shared the specific statistics of his non-profit organization.

And...

This brings tears to my eyes.

Because the RIPPLE OF IMPACT from that evening was felt around the world.

What's as important is that my daughter, Abigail, at the age of 11 years old got to see how someone could use their influence to raise awareness (plus much-needed donations) for a CAUSE that they believe in.

If you know my family, you know that we have a charitable foundation together that's called "The Peace Through Participation Project" and it specifically supports the Self-Worth & Self-Esteem in Children of all Races, Religions, & Regions of the World.

Four times a year, our family hosts between 75 - 150 caring & compassionate entrepreneurs at our home in the hills of Orange County, California for our series of Philanthro-Parties - "Invite Only Experiences for Purpose Driven People".

Last year alone...

Our efforts helped to fund an annual Girls Self-Esteem Conference that regularly serves over 500 little girls.

To the untrained person living within society's status quo, it would appear as though the universe sometimes works in somewhat "mysterious" ways.

By the time the British soldiers had made it toward Lexington that very same day, the colonial resistance was already well organized and in place.

As a result, the British were soundly beaten, giving rise to what history would later record as the American Revolution.

While the result of Paul Revere’s ride may be history, let’s take a little closer look at the actual sequence of events which may shed some light into the true value of RELATIONSHIP CURRENCY.

On that unforgettable night, two (2) different men rode two (2) different routes from outside Boston to Lexington warning communities along the way of the imminent threat from the British.

Did you know that there was another rider that evening named William Dawes?

(we didn't either)

However, the message delivered by both Paul Revere and William Dawes on their "midnight rides" was critical to the outcome of events that would soon unfold.

The message both riders carried informed those in surrounding colonial communities that the very next morning the British Army intended to march on to Concord to arrest colonial leaders John Hancock and Samuel Adams.

Had the British succeeded in arresting these two key figures, this may have been A VERY STRONG BLOW to the colonial resistance.

And...

Beer drinkers around the world might be living life without their favorite rich-tasting beverage called Samuel Adams Boston Lager!

What makes this conversation intriguing is that both Paul Revere and William Dawes carried the IDENTICAL message through just as many towns over just as many miles.

(just like you may be carrying a similar message to all the other Coaches, Consultants, and Course Creators today)

Whereas...

Revere’s message 🔥-- SPREAD LIKE WILDFIRE --🔥 in the New England communities that he was designated to.

But...

In somewhat seemingly complete contrast, Dawes’ message FAILED TO IGNITE any form of interest.

The result being that in towns William Dawes was responsible for informing, even the local militia leaders weren’t aware of the British plan of action.

A MOVEMENT WOULD'VE BEEN STOPPED BEFORE IT EVEN STARTED

Can you begin to imagine how catastrophic the consequences could've been had Paul Revere experienced similar results to William Dawes?

In all honesty, the American Revolution (and the movement that it still represents to this day for people all across the globe) would have seriously been stopped before it even started.

So...

Why was there a difference in the reception of this IDENTICAL message?

Well, evidence suggests that Revere was connected to an extensive network of strategic relationships. Whereas, the limited points of contact for Dawes were, to be quite frank, less useful.

Historian after Historian suggests that Paul Revere invested the time to establish real relationships with real people BEFORE he ever asked them for their support.

It's even reported that Revere had contributed to many of the colonial communities in some way, shape, or form in the years leading up to his now infamous "Midnight Ride".

(and it appears as though Dawes did nothing of the sort!)

Revere may have come un-announced that cool, brisk, pre-dawn morning in April of 1775. However, he certainly wasn't some un-known stranger showing up on people's doorsteps.

Through the years, he built up trust & credibility so that by the time he showed up asking for their support, the people within the colonial communities along the New England countryside trusted him and took immediate action.

They REMEMBERED who he was. They RESONATED w/ his mission & his message. Therefore, they REACTED positively.

The same simply cannot be said for the reactions that William Dawes must've encountered when he knocked on doors in the middle of the night asking for support. Otherwise, American school children to this day would be learning about William Dawes instead of Paul Revere, wouldn't they?

In fact, some say that Revere compelled as many as (40) FORTY ADDITIONAL HORSEBACK RIDERS into action that same morning who helped him magnify & multiply his message within the many communities along the New England countryside.

Had one of his loved ones not gotten there in time and immediately called an ambulance, Ted would've been dead.

Today, Ted openly admits that he lived almost a decade in decadence and because of the massive influence of the people he hung out with at that time in his life, he lived most of that time feeling empty and alone.

It wasn't until he had the courage to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH that things started to change for the better.

When Ted finally stopped lying to himself and lying to those around him, he went from abusing drugs & alcohol to finally finding his purpose, impacting millions, and making millions along the way.

THE ONLY THING STANDING IN YOUR WAY IS YOUR ABILITY TO MAKE ONE DECISION

Right now, you may be wondering how did Ted turn around his life in such a short period of time.

The answer is quite simple.

He made the decision to tackle an internal issue that had been holding him hostage for far too long as it related to his own Self-Worth and Self-Esteem.

He asked himself, "Am I a good enough person to deserve to be successful?"

When Ted decided (once and for all) that he was good enough, his next steps were to seek out successful people who also had access to other successful people that he wanted to surround himself with.

Now...

At this point, you may be sitting there staring at your screen wondering to yourself, "Who the heck is Ted guy?"

Because the Ted in the story chose to work with TR over ten (10) years ago, the marketplace now knows Ted McGrath and you may even recognize his signature seminar called "Message To Millions".
